Diagnosis

If you are having trouble viewing films, the following series of tests will help you diagnose the problem.

  1. A general System Test of your computer and settings is available at the following link: http://www.fototv.com/requirements
  2. To check your Internet speed/Internet bandwidth, please click here. After an initial settling period of 10 seconds, please note the download speed.
  3. A Port Test measures whether a film is making it through your firewall successfully. To perform this test please click here. Save the result of this test with copy-and-paste function.
  4. The following link contains a film file http://test.interlake.net/downloadtest.html  Please select "Download" with the right click of the mouse button and choose Save File Content As.. then make a note of the Download Speed reported in the browser window
  5. If nothing can be seen in the player or you just have only sound and only picture, then make sure you download the latest Flash plugin for your browser from Adobe.

Additionally, there are other more in-depth testing programs such as the Trace-Route test. This test will show you the route or path the film is taking. Depending on which OS systems you are using, you can test in the following way. You could choose to send us the test result using the screen capture function, to help you understand where the problem lies.

In general, with the above tests we should be able to diagnose the cause for your problem. You can compare the test results with the following criteria. The results of all the tests must be positive.

  • The Internet speed/download speeds should be greater than 400 kbps, otherwise the films will not run smoothly and will appear jumpy.
  • If there are problems in the Port Test, then appropriate changes or settings (such as open a port) need to be made to the Firewall to allow data transfer.

Other known problems include:

  1. Pop-up Ad blockers and Flash blockers can sometimes keep the video player from starting
  2. To be able to view more than just previews you need to subscribe to FotoTV.
  3. You have to be logged into FotoTV.com to be able to access all the films.
