Why are the videos jumping despite my broadband connection?

First, run a broadband test to ensure your Internet connection is fast enough to support the films. You can do this here .

The broadband test will load a few data packages from a server and will inform you of your data throughput. The data throughput should be no less than 600 kbit. This is the bandwidth for our films in normal quality. If you have Internet access with more than 1.2 Mbit, then it will upgrade to a higher film quality for you.

Despite having the necessary connection speed, films still seem to jump occasionally, why is that?

If the data transfer is slow, this is most likely occurring somewhere between our computers and yours at home.

One reason could be the connection between your Internet provider and the Internet. Depending on Internet traffic, the data flow is often redirected. Since this can change by the second, such problems normally fix themselves.

Another reason could be that you are sharing your bandwidth with others; in layman’s terms, they are sharing your junction box and depending on how strong your connection is and how much they are downloading, the access speed can slow and FotoTV films will start jumping. The best solution for this is a bit of patience or trying at a different time of day.

Finally, if you’re using a radio frequency to access the Internet (WLAN), the connection to your router/modem and the computer could be damaged, thereby making your data flow slower. In this case, either move closer to the transmitter or use a cable.

We could offer smaller videos at a lower quality to avoid the problem of jumping. But we decided that a visual topic such as photography would fare better with occasional breakdowns than to be displayed in small, poor quality pictures. We are interested in hearing your opinion about this and ask you to give us feedback in the forum.
